Thermostream Design Eliminates Thermal Shock
Buderus developed the Thermostream Principle for
cast iron boilers. This design incorporates return water entering a central return
distribution pipe. Heated supply water travels along the
outside
of this distribution pipe creating an internal counter flow heat exchanger. Return water
is then injected into, mixed, and heated with supply water in the top header before
entering the outer waterways of the sections. Different diameter ports in the distribution
pipe ensure proportionate flow to all boiler sections. Sections that transfer more heat
receive more water resulting in equal thermal stress in all sections. Thermal shock is
impossible by design due to internal water circulation and deflection of cold return water
away from directly heated surfaces.

- Optimum chamber design eliminates need for refractory materials.
- Full size burner door provides easy front access for cleaning and burner service.
- Removable baffles in secondary flue passages enhance turbulent heat transfer.
